Ruth, a Greenlandic woman serving an indeterminate sentence in Nuuk, faces an uncertain future with no fixed release date. When filmmaker Nina Paninnguaq Skydsbjerg begins documenting her life, their shared experiences of childhood hardship, grief and isolation draw them into a close friendship. Filmed over several years, the documentary follows Ruth’s efforts to confront her past and seek release, while Nina reckons with her own unresolved experiences. Together, their stories explore punishment, rehabilitation and the possibility of rebuilding a life after trauma.
