Germany stands at a historic turning point: in 2025, for the first time since 1945, the Bundestag adopts a motion on migration policy with the support of the AfD, a party monitored by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution for far-right activities. The motion to curb immigration calls for, among other measures, the complete closure of Germany’s borders. A paradigm shift is emerging: away from protecting refugees and towards isolation and deterrence.
