MOLDOX Festival 2025 Agenda: Chaos. Reinventing Reality

The MOLDOX Festival team announces the agenda of the 10th edition of the Festival, which will take place between 26–30 November 2025 at Cineplex Loteanu in Chișinău.

Under the theme “Chaos. Reinventing Reality”, this anniversary edition invites audiences to explore zones of conflict, fragile communities, intimate spaces, and territories in transition. Documentary film becomes both a witness and an agent of today’s world—capturing not only disorder but also the power of transformation, resilience, and renewal.

This year’s selection features 27 feature-length and 6 short documentaries from Moldova and around the globe, most of them premieres. From Siberia to Khartoum, from India’s red-light districts to Moldova’s abandoned villages, MOLDOX 2025 films explore invasions, migrations, trauma, utopias, and collective healing. The lineup also includes high-profile titles such as The Voice of Hind Rajab, which sparked debates at major international festivals, including Venice.

A major highlight of this year’s edition is the launch of the Green Vine national documentary competition, dedicated to Moldovan filmmakers addressing social, environmental, and identity-related themes. The winner will be selected by an international jury and will receive support for distribution and project development.

To mark this special 10th anniversary, the festival will also feature several premieres: a concert by the Queer Choir with a surprise local star, and a new format for public panels—a cultural dialogue platform developed in collaboration with Cărturești la Muzeu bookstore.

In true MOLDOX tradition, the festival also includes a series of side events fostering interaction, dialogue, and art-based education. From the first to the last day, visitors can enjoy concerts, a photo exhibition, and themed parties at Casa Zemstvei, PRO Sănătate, and Queer Café, adding color to the festival experience.

A poster exhibition at Cărturești la Muzeu will pay tribute to everyone who has contributed to MOLDOX over the past decade. Visitors will also discover the MOLDOX Bookshelf, featuring film-related reading recommendations, open until 30 November.

In parallel with screenings, MOLDOX Lab will once again turn Artcor into a space for learning, dialogue, and collaboration. Young directors, producers, and screenwriters will take part in workshops led by mentors from Sweden, Greece, and the Balkans, in partnership with Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival, Balkan Documentary Center, and Pitch the Doc. The program includes masterclasses and discussions on documentary filmmaking as a tool for social change.

After ten years, MOLDOX remains more than a festival—it is a living practice. What stays constant is the care for human voices and the belief that film can reshape how we live together. If chaos is our present condition, reinvention is our shared exercise.
