Nuisance Bear

For thousands of years, polar bears have migrated along Canada’s Hudson Bay. Today, climate change delays the freeze, pushing them closer to human settlements, where they must navigate tourists, wildlife officers, and hunters. Expanding their award-winning short, filmmakers Gabriela Osio Vanden and Jack Weisman return to Churchill, Manitoba, guided by an Inuit narrator. Through strikingly intimate imagery, Nuisance Bear explores an uneasy coexistence, questioning how humans control and commodify wildlife—and who truly belongs in this shared landscape.
