Closing Ceremony / Caliu

*The closing film of the 11th edition of MOLDOX, screened as part of the Closing Ceremony.

Legendary violonist Gheorghe “Caliu” Anghel, known as the “King of the Violin,” lives between memories of international glory and his present-day struggle for recognition. The complexity of his artistic and ethnic identity unfolds beyond the stage: within his family, in his native village, on tour, and as he confronts his own regrets. Audiences discover not only a gifted musician, but a charismatic, vulnerable, and candid man. Caliu’s story culminates in an unexpected appearance by Johnny Depp at a pivotal moment in the film, where music and cinema meet.
