At the Mother and Child Unit of Penitentiary No. 16 – Pruncul, children are born and raised alongside their mothers until the age of three. Once they reach this age, with the mother's written consent and the approval of the guardianship authority, they are placed in the care of a person designated by the mother or a specialized childcare institution.
